A Twisted Dimer Model for Knots

چکیده
We develop a dimer model for the Alexander polynomial of a knot. This recovers Kauffman's state sum model for the Alexander polynomial using the language of dimers. By providing some additional structure we are able to extend this model to give a state sum formula for the twisted Alexander polynomial of a knot depending on a representation of the knot group.

Twisted Reidemeister Torsion for Twist Knots
A. The aim of this paper is to give an explicit formula for the SL 2(C)-twisted Reidemeister torsion in the case of twist knots. For hyperbolic twist knots, we also prove that the twisted Reidemeister torsion at the holonomy representation can be expressed as a rational function evaluated at the cusp shape of the knot. Tables giving approximations of the twisted Reidemeister torsion for ...
متن کاملVolume Bounds for Generalized Twisted Torus Links
Twisted torus knots and links are given by twisting adjacent strands of a torus link. They are geometrically simple and contain many examples of the smallest volume hyperbolic knots. Many are also Lorenz links. We study the geometry of twisted torus links and related generalizations. We determine upper bounds on their hyperbolic volumes that depend only on the number of strands being twisted. W...
متن کاملFibred Knots and Twisted Alexander Invariants
We study the twisted Alexander invariants of fibred knots. We establish necessary conditions on the twisted Alexander invariants for a knot to be fibred, and develop a practical method to compute the twisted Alexander invariants from the homotopy type of a monodromy. It is illustrated that the twisted Alexander invariants carry more information on fibredness than the classical Alexander invaria...
متن کاملPrimeness of Twisted Knots
Let V be a standardly embedded solid torus in S3 with a meridianpreferred longitude pair {p., X) and K a knot contained in V . We assume that K is unknotted in S3 . Let fn be an orientation-preserving homeomorphism of V which sends X to X + np. Then we get a twisted knot K„ = f„ {K) in SK Primeness of twisted knots is discussed and we prove : A twisted knot K„ is prime if \n\ > 5 . Moreover, {K...
متن کاملSurgery Descriptions and Volumes of Berge Knots I: Large Volume Berge Knots
By obtaining surgery descriptions of knots which lie on the genus one fiber of the trefoil or figure eight knot, we show that these include hyperbolic knots with arbitrarily large volume. These knots admit lens space surgeries and form two families of Berge knots. By way of tangle descriptions we also obtain surgery descriptions for these knots on minimally twisted chain links.
